“Portland Public Schools strongly supports the Dream Bigger program, which has adopted numerous well-researched and prescribed approaches to engaging middle-school Black boys in the US, including having a timely and intentional curriculum that is implemented by capable and empathetic men who reflect their life experiences. This is an excellent program, which has a strong positive impact on Black middle-school aged boys. I [Superintendent Guerrero] urge ODE to fund the expansion of the program to provide additional mentoring services and increase community and family engagement.”
